REVIEW: Taco Bell Decades

Taco Bell’s Decades Menu has brought back five fan-favorite items from the '60s through the '00s, allowing fans to revisit classic tastes from the chain’s history. Here’s my take on each item.

You can check out my last Taco Bell review, of the Double Decker Taco, here.

‘70s Green Burrito

The Green Burrito is heavily packed with refried beans, but it could benefit from a bit more cheese to balance out the texture and flavor. Despite containing onions and green sauce, these flavors are barely noticeable. The green sauce itself has only a mild tomatillo taste, which brings a hint of tanginess but isn’t very bold. Overall, the burrito felt one-note and a bit bland, making it my least favorite of the bunch, scoring 2/10.

‘90s Beef Gordita Supreme

The Beef Gordita Supreme feels like it never really left the menu, as it tastes like a typical Taco Bell item. It has that classic “Taco Bell” flavor, which is pleasant but not very exciting or unique. It’s a safe choice for anyone looking for a standard Taco Bell experience, but nothing to rush out for. I’d give it a 5/10 for reliability, though it lacks anything special.

‘80s Meximelt

The Meximelt is one item I remember enjoying in my younger years, and it’s great to see it return. With Taco Bell’s signature ingredients, the Meximelt stands out because of the generous amount of melted cheese. My one critique is the tomatoes – they don’t add much flavor, a common issue with Taco Bell’s tomatoes. But for its nostalgic appeal and cheesy goodness, the Meximelt deserves a solid 8/10.

‘60s Tostada

The Tostada is a straightforward combo of beans, red sauce, and cheese on a flat shell, but it’s a bit plain without beef. It falls apart easily, so it’s not the easiest to eat. I’d give it a 3/10 for simplicity.

Service was excellent, it always is at my Taco Bell. I placed a mobile order and was handed the food within 2 minutes of arrival.

I was also looking forward to the Caramel Apple Empanada from the 2000s, but this item won’t arrive until November 21. This dessert could add a needed sweet finish to the Decades Menu!
