REVIEW: Jimmy John’s Picklewich & Pickle Jimmy Chips Review
It’s not worth it.

Jimmy John’s has recently added two pickle-inspired items to its menu, and I had to try them out. First up, the Picklewich. This sandwich ditches traditional bread for a giant dill pickle, sliced in half to serve as the “bread.” While it’s an innovative idea, the execution didn’t work.
The Picklewich is tall, which makes it tricky to bite into comfortably. Its structure, with layers of meat and cheese between two pickle halves, adds to the challenge, as the pickle’s slick surface doesn’t hold the filling well. Each bite has the meat slipping out, which makes it difficult to enjoy. The meat and veggie filling is scant. Since there’s no sauce (probably to avoid extra mess from the already-wet pickle), you’re left with the pickle's taste and texture. Unfortunately, the pickle itself isn’t as sour as I expected, which might disappoint those looking for a strong dill punch.
I chose the turkey variety, which I felt didn’t have enough flavor to compete with the pickle’s brine. Maybe the italian picklewich would’ve been a better choice. This may be better suited to keto dieters who want a low-carb option without bread, though I believe Jimmy John’s Unwich lettuce wrap works better for this purpose. Overall, the Picklewich felt more like a novelty than a satisfying meal, and I’d rate it 2/10.
On a positive note, the Pickle Jimmy Chips were excellent. These chips deliver just the right amount of dill flavor without being overly sour, which makes for a well-balanced taste. The classic crunch that Jimmy Chips are known for is still there, and the dill flavor complements the potato base nicely. Each chip has a good balance, where the potato flavor shines through, but the dill flavor isn’t lost. I’d give them a solid 9/10 and would definitely recommend them to anyone who enjoys dill-flavored snacks.
In summary, while the Picklewich might work for die-hard pickle fans, the Pickle Jimmy Chips are a standout addition to the Jimmy John’s menu, delivering big on flavor and texture.
