REVIEW: Jack In The Box Mini Chimi Bang Bangs
Is Jack in the Box the king of gimmicked food items? I think so, but these mini chimichangas fell flat compared to some of their recent offerings.
The shell of the Mini Chimi Bang Bangs was surprisingly good for frozen fast food. It had a satisfying crunch on the ends, giving a nice textural contrast. Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended. The filling left much to be desired.
While I could taste the chicken, it didn't have the familiar texture of shredded chicken. Instead, the filling had an almost gelatinous consistency, reminiscent of a chicken pot pie frozen dinner. This was a major letdown, as I had hoped for a more authentic chimichanga experience.
As for the flavors, the Mini Chimi Bang Bangs failed miserably. I couldn't discern any distinct southwestern flavors, except for the occasional hint of black bean. The corn, which I expected to add some sweetness and crunch, was virtually flavorless and did nothing to enhance the flavor profile.
Jack in the Box's Mini Chimi Bang Bangs were a disappointment. Despite the promising shell, the lackluster filling and absence of ANY flavors made this a forgettable fast food item.
Oh, what’s the other item in the second picture? The cardboard box filled completely with processed cheese, lettuce, and red sauce? That’s exactly what’s in the box. Cheese and sauce slathering the mini chimichangas and that’s ALL you can taste. I can’t even review these because they would be 0/10.
