REVIEW: Mt Dew’s Summer Flavors

Let me start out by saying that I am not a fan of full sugar sodas. They’re too syrupy and the corn syrup gives me a stomachache, but these limited edition flavors must be reviewed… for science!

Star Spangled Splash

Upon opening the can, Star Spangled Splash hits you with a red berry aroma reminiscent of red Sour Patch Kids gummies. The scent is inviting, but the soda itself falls a bit flat. The carbonation is lackluster, and while there's a hint of berry flavor, it doesn't come through strongly. Instead, it leaves a rather disappointing aftertaste. Despite its promising smell, this one didn’t quite hit the mark for me. Rating: 6/10.

Freedom Fusion

Next up is Freedom Fusion, a blend that boasts a peach and lemonade flavor. However, the peach flavor feels overly artificial, and neither the peach nor the lemonade comes through as strong as I'd hoped. It's not unpleasant, but it lacks the punch of a great summer soda. I couldn't help but think this might be better suited as a diet soda. Rating: 6/10.

Liberty Chill

Liberty Chill was a pleasant surprise. It felt more carbonated than the other flavors, which I appreciated. The label promises a mix of 50 flavors, but what stood out most to me was the blue raspberry. It was delicious and refreshing, though a bit on the syrupy side. Among all the new flavors, this one was definitely my favorite. Rating: 8/10.

Infinite Swirl

Finally, Infinite Swirl delivers on its promise of a pineapple and berry mix. Neither flavor dominates, creating a sweet and enjoyable balance throughout the drink. It's a solid option for a summer refreshment, though it didn’t stand out as much as Liberty Chill. Rating: 6/10.
