REVIEW: Arby’s Potato Cakes and Big Cheesy Bacon Burger

Arby’s, they have the meats. When I was younger, I never understood Arby’s. Why go to a fast food joint for a roast beef sandwich? But since then, Arby’s has added several item mainstays that keep me coming back. Crinkle cut fries are the superior form of french fries, and the Jalapeno Roast Beef Slider is amazing.

Arby's Potato Cakes: A Perfect 10/10

First up, the Arby's Potato Cakes. These golden beauties have the perfect level of salt, striking a balance that enhances their flavor without being overpowering. The crispy exterior gives way to a soft, tender inside, creating a delightful contrast in every bite. The ratio of crust to the interior is just right, making each potato cake a textural delight. Honestly, these Potato Cakes are a solid 10/10 in my book. They are a must-try for anyone visiting Arby's while they are available.

Arby's Big Cheesy Bacon Burger Review: A Mixed Bag

Upon my first bite, I immediately noticed the sauce. Unfortunately, it was a bit too runny for my liking, making the burger messier than expected. However, if you love cheese, this burger delivers. It’s incredibly cheesy, which could be a huge plus for cheese lovers.

One aspect I found less appealing was the bread & butter style pickles. They were too sweet and didn’t quite complement the savory elements of the burger. It felt like they disrupted the overall flavor profile rather than enhancing it.

The bacon, on the other hand, had a great texture. It was crispy and added a nice crunch to each bite, but soft enough to bite through. To this day, McDonald’s bacon is undefeated for me. The beef patty was cooked to a medium doneness, which I appreciated. It was juicy and flavorful, providing a solid base for the burger.

Surprisingly, the best part of the Big Cheesy Bacon Burger was the finish. The final bites, free from the tomato, onion, and lettuce, were the most enjoyable. These additional toppings didn’t add much to the overall experience and could easily be left off without missing out on anything crucial.
