REVIEW: Wendy’s Mushroom Bacon Cheeseburger
Wendy's has recently introduced two limited-time offerings to its menu: the Mushroom Bacon Cheeseburger and the Salted Caramel Frosty.
Mushroom Bacon Cheeseburger: This burger features a fresh, never-frozen beef patty topped with roasted mushrooms, crispy bacon, Muenster cheese, and a creamy garlic spread, all served on a premium bun. It's designed to provide a savory and satisfying flavor experience.
Salted Caramel Frosty: This new Frosty flavor combines the classic creamy texture with rich, salty caramel notes, offering a cozy and indulgent treat for the fall season. The Salted Caramel Frosty is available nationwide starting November 12, 2024, for a limited time.
Both items are part of Wendy's seasonal menu and are available at participating locations. Given their limited-time availability, it's advisable to try them soon if you're interested.
I recently tried Wendy’s new Mushroom Bacon Cheeseburger and Salted Caramel Frosty, and it was a bit of a mixed experience.

Mushroom Bacon Cheeseburger: Unfortunately, this burger didn’t quite hit the mark for me. Right off the bat, the first bite pulled out all of the bacon, which was disappointing. The garlic sauce added a nice, mild flavor, but I wish it had been a bit stronger to balance everything out. It’s called the “Mushroom Bacon Cheeseburger”, but the mushrooms were unremarkable. I could hardly sense they were there and they didn’t add a textural component. Comparing it to BK’s mushroom steakburger from years prior, that one is miles ahead on msuhroom. Wendy’s choice of Muenster cheese is interesting, but it’s very mild and felt like it got lost in the mix. I think classic American or a sharper Swiss would’ve worked better here. I ordered the burger as a double, so with all that beef, the other flavors seemed to get drowned out. It’s not the worst burger I’ve had, but overall, I’d rate it a 4/10 for flavor and balance.
Salted Caramel Frosty: This was definitely the highlight! The caramel flavor is rich without being overly sweet or artificial. It’s thick and creamy, which is exactly what I want from a Frosty. My only complaint is that the “salted” aspect was barely there – I would’ve loved a bit more saltiness to really elevate it. But for what it is, it’s a solid 8/10.
Service: The service was great – I placed a mobile order, and my food was ready in under six minutes, which was impressive. Quick service is always a plus, especially when you’re on the go.
Overall, I’d say the Salted Caramel Frosty is worth a try, but the Mushroom Bacon Cheeseburger could use some tweaks to bring out the flavors.
